FAQ

If you have any Brand New or BNIR related questions, send them to brandnewisrock@gmail.com.

Q: What's the story behind rumor about Jesse and John Nolan (ex Taking Back Sunday member, now in Straylight Run) fighting over a girl?
A: There was a conflict between two, but it occurred years ago. They eventually made up and are still friends.

Q: Why does Brand New's "Seventy Times Seven" and Taking Back Sunday's "There's No 'I' In Team" both have the same lines: "Is that what you call tact? I swear you're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back, so let's end this call and end this conversation"?
A: There's No 'I' In Team is a response to Seventy Times Seven in reference to John Nolan and Jesse's conflict. Therefore, Taking Back Sunday "stole" Brand New's lyrics and not the other way around.

Q: Were any of the members in bands prior to Brand New?
A: Brian, Garrett, and Jesse were formerly in a band called The Rookie Lot. Click here for more information on The Rookie Lot. Also, Jesse was previously a member of Taking Back Sunday (a long time ago).

Q: Can you give me more information about the Brand New DVD and where I can get a copy of it?
A: The DVD is a "peek into life on the road with Brand New." It was filmed during their tour with Taking Back Sunday back in 2002. You can receive the DVD for free with the purchase of the 'Beer: The Movie' soundtrack [$11.00] at www.triplecrownrecords.com. Click here for the direct link.

Q: For Brand New’s fall 2003 tour with Hot Rod Circuit and Eisley, what was said in the intro before Brand New’s performance?
A: The intro plays clips from two different movies. The first clip is from Basquiat, a movie depicting the life of a graffiti artist living in New York. The dialogue occurs when two guys are playing basketball. It was edited for the intro, and the words that are not bolded were cut out:

Basquiat: Hey Benny man, how long do you think it takes to get famous?
Benny: For a musician or a painter?
Basquiat: Whatever. Famous. To where you can do your stuff all day without thinking about anything else.
Benny: Umm... Four years. Six to get rich.
Benny: First, you have to dress right. Then, you have to hang out all the time – with famous people – the right people, the right chicks, the right parties. And you gotta do your work all the time when you're not doing that. The same kinda work, the same style – over and over again, so people recognize it and don't get confused. Then, once you're famous, you have to keep doing it the same way, even after it's boring – unless you want people to really get mad at you – which they will anyway.

The second clip is from a court room scene in The Boondock Saints:

Connor: Each day we will spill their blood, till it rains down from the skies. For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three, and on that day you will reap it.
Murphy: And we will send you to whatever god you wish.
Duce: You people have been chosen to reveal our existence to the world. You will witness what happens here today, and you will tell of it later. All eyes to the front.
